Students in Grades 4 – 10

Introduction to Python Programming – For students without any experience in Python programming. This course introduces students to commands, variables, colors, while and for loops, and random commands. Students must have either an iPad with the Pythonista app downloaded ($9.99) or a laptop/computer with Mu Editor downloaded (free). Instructions on setting up the iPad or laptop/computer will be provided. Students will not be able to use a Chromebook.

Level 2 Python Programming – For students who began Python either over the summer or last fall and are excited to continue. This course continues to work with concepts from the Introductory Level and builds in logic, inputs, functions, and parameters. Students must have either an iPad with the Pythonista app downloaded ($9.99) or a laptop/computer with Mu Editor downloaded (free). Instructions on setting up the iPad or laptop/computer will be provided. Students will not be able to use a Chromebook.

Advanced Python Programming – For students who have completed at least the first two levels of python or joined us last fall in game design. This course will introduce students to a more sophisticated graphics package, tkinter, as well as introduce and utilize the concepts of hexadecimal and ASCII. Projects will include user interface programs and cypher creators and decoders. Students must work on a laptop/computer with Mu Editor downloaded (free). Students will not be able to use a Chromebook or iPad .

html Escape Room

Interested in website design? Join us this winter . . . we are offering a new introductory class teaching students to code in html while creating their own virtual escape rooms.

WHO: 5th – 10th grade students

WHAT: Introduction to html– For students with little to no experience in html. This course introduces students to website design as they create their own virtual escape rooms week by week. Students must have an iPad with the easy html app downloaded (free) and a drawing app such as notability or onenote so everyone is working on the same platform. If you do not have an iPad, you can rent one from LVCORE for the eight week period for $30.
